Frankie attended Coral Gables Senior High School, where he played football during his senior year. He went on to attend Florida International University in 2008, where he completed two years before leaving to act in “Tony n Tina’s Wedding”: an interactive dinner comedy which he played multiple roles in over a two year period.

BJJ Career:
Frankie began training at BJJ Miami in 2012. He has won 3 amateur MMA fights by submission. Frankie is currently a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and trains under BJJ Miami seasoned black belt Gabriel Pinto. “Frankie is one of the most talented competitors I have ever known. He picks up most techniques right away,” says Pinto. “The first time he is taught, he can apply those techniques that same class.”

Training Routine:
Frankie trains for Miami Jiu-jitsu at Evolution MMA 6 days a week. His training routine includes practicing jiu jitsu techniques, kickboxing, grappling, drilling, conditioning, boot camp, and MMA sparring. He prepares mentally for a Jiu-jitsu match by focusing his mind on staying calm and relaxed in order to save energy for the competition.

Personal Life:
In addition to training at the gym, Francisco also teaches kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, boot camp conditioning, and private lessons to kids, adults, and teens at Evolution Mixed Martial Arts.

“I love seeing my students grow, learn, and develop,” he says. “It’s really rewarding when you see somebody use something that you taught them-effectively- gives me a good feeling.”

“Coach Frankie is a dedicated and talented coach,” says Alex Arias, a recent graduate of Evolution’s Teens MMA program. “He is devoted to each student’s personal development and cares for everyone’s well-being. His high-spirited energy makes the class fun and educational, allowing children to enjoy exercise while also learning to defend themselve. Frankie pushes his students to their limits, showing them that they can overcome all odds.”

When he’s not at the gym, Frankie enjoys playing basketball, acting, and writing scripts and short scenes for film. He lives in Miami, Florida with his girlfriend of four years and their three cats.

Goals and missions
“Getting my blue belt gave me a strong sense of accomplishment,” says Segredo. Francisco’s immediate goals include winning his upcoming amateur MMA fight and getting his Miami BJJ purple belt. His future plans include becoming a Mixed Martial Arts champion and a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu black belt. “After my fight career I would like to go back into acting and writing,” says Segredo.
