For the past few years I wanted to lose the weight I have gained since graduating from High School but always had an excuse not to actually do something about it. I heard great reviews about kickboxing classes in Miami, but I just kept putting it off. I thought it would be too tough and I would just end up quitting in the end. I tried many intense at home workouts like Insanity and P90X, but I always gave up and was disappointed in myself. Finally, a friend bought me a few kickboxing classes as a present to a spot in Kendall named Evolution MMA Miami. She was smart in convincing me because she knew I wasn’t going to let her money go to waste. So, not looking forward to it at all I put on my workout clothes and dragging my feet went to my first session.

Since it was my first time I was told to do as many of each kickboxing rounds as I could without over exhausting myself. We started with the usual warm up and stretches then we got into the nitty gritty of it all. We then moved on to multiple different kickboxing combinations. Deep down these exercises were definitely what I was looking forward to the most. Since we had decided to do it right after work I had some pent up frustration I needed to release. Although kickboxing looks so easy when you see it in movies it is undeniably exhausting after 10 minutes in. I was already feeling fatigued and it was just the first round. Once we were done with all kickboxing rounds we went on to working out our abs, which was the end of our kickboxing session.
I was beyond tired and barely hanging on by a thread towards the end of the workout. I knew I would be sore the next day. As I laid down on the floor to catch my breath I realized this was the first time I actually made it through an entire workout! The staff was beyond helpful and nice. They knew how far to push me considering I was a beginner. They were so motivating that I pushed harder to prove to them I could do it. They really were the true stimulus in getting me excited for the next sessions.
